Dorine Roulette, 84, of Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba, began her journey to the spirit world on March 14, 2022 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg.
Dorine was born on February 06, 1938 in Sandy Bay First Nation. She moved to MacGregor, MB in 1955 with her family, and made her way to Winnipeg in 1974 where she spent the rest of her days.
Dorine is predeceased by her mother, Maria Spence; sisters Marguerite (Maggie) and Theresa; partner Alfred Roulette; children Karyn, Alfred Jr., Raymond, Amab, Anita, Evelyn, and Ronald; and grandchild John Smith.
Dorine leaves to mourn her siblings Jeanette (Richard), Nora, Dolly, Barbara, Virgil; sons Paul, Roger, Albert (Nicole); daughters Betty (Ken), Shirley (Brian) of Utah, Marjorie and Lisa (Billy) of Lexington, Diane, Stephanie (Cory); numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorine was a sister, cousin, auntie; she was "Mom" to many and "Gookoo" to plenty. Despite surviving the residential school system, Dorine's resilience reigned and she flourished as an Indigenous ikwe and matriarch to her family.
Those who knew her knew she was a person of compassion and sheer love; she gave without hesitation and loved without limits. Dorine always saw the best in those that surrounded her. She had a forgiving heart and knew how to bring everyone together.

It was said, when one finished their work, one would leave. My mother’s work is done with all the children she raised. It wasn’t only her immediate children, she looked after others from somewhere else. On her own, raising her children, she worked very hard. She was very active to raise those she knew. And so, finishing the path of her life, she reluctantly left, so be it.
