Stephen Huyber Obituary

Passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Third Crossing Manor, Gladstone at the age of 86 years. Dad was born on October 27, 1933 at Portage la Prairie, MB. He lived in Langruth but moved to Gladstone in 2010.

Steve grew up on the family farm south of Langruth. He took over the farm at the age of 17. He met the love of his life, Marion in the spring of 1956 and were married in the fall. They started their life together and three children came along David, Diane and Donna. Through the 63 years of marriage there were good, bad, happy and sad time but they endured it all.

Dad was active in the community he served on the skating rink, curling rink Boards and a Trustee of the Pine Creek School Board. He played baseball, hockey and curling. He was active in his children’s activities, coached hockey, was at our school field days and chauffeured to all our activities. Dad enjoyed the outdoors such as hunting, snowmobiling and fishing. He took a mechanics course so fixing his farm machines was something he took pride in. Whatever Dad did, whether it was bookkeeping or organizing his shop, everything was done to perfection. His meticulous quality came in handy when he started re-loading rifle shells which he did for himself and neighbours.

As the grandchildren came along, each one of them was special and he enjoyed his time with them, whether it was going for a quad ride or just visiting and sharing stories.

Steve was predeceased by his mother Irene; uncles Louis (Gertie), and Eugene (Marg); cousin Ron; and in laws John & Mary Bandor.

He is survived by his wife Marion; son David (Sylvia), Shannon, Jason, Michelle, Joe, Brad, Jordan; daughter Diane, Carma, Sandro, Lexi, Jayden, Keith, Kristen, Olivia; daughter Donna (Harald).
