Sveinn David Egilson was born in Winnipeg to Sveinn "Swannie" and Sigridur "Sigga" Egilson. He was raised on Bar VI Ranch with his older sister Marjorie, attending Big Point School and later Langruth before following in his father's footsteps to be a cattle rancher. He loved the land and lakeshore and would take special care not to disturb the waterfowl nesting areas during hatching. His sharp shooting skills were improved by practice on cans of lard that he would melt to reuse the pellets. He was a good driver and enjoyed good clean fun with his Big Point friends whether it was trips for burgers or going to community events. David was a quiet man who had a big impact on all who loved him. He was a cool uncle to his sister's children and found his calling in being a family man when he met and married JoAnn who worked alongside him haying and calving and raising their 4 children Kris, Kelly, Alan and Jayme. David enjoyed time spent with his friends and his cousins and extended family who came out from the city for special occasions or hunting and farm adventures. He loved old cars and had a fondness for anything Dodge. He kept his IH tractor line in good condition becoming a collector of old tractors that seemed to run forever under his care and attention. His father in law would say "that boy does not like to pull the pin" having a tractor hooked to each implement which came in handy when his cousins and his kids helped during haying and harvest. David managed to balance farming and family life coming home early from the field to attend activities or go on holidays. Trips to Disneyland and Iceland were highlights but the everyday moments with family around the dining room table or the living room TV were just as special. He loved the farm horses and dogs from his childhood and the pets his kids collected. After retirement he spent mornings with his Languth coffee club and doing the weekly town garbage run with his friend Robert and afternoons with his cat Casper who turned out to be a better foot-warmer than mouser. As his family grew he found his biggest joy in his grandchildren.
He will be forever loved by his wife JoAnn, children Kristopher (Clorissa), Kelly, Alan (Rebecca), Jayme (Jarratt) and grandchildren David, Lochlan, Adelyn, Olafur and Anders.
