"Toby" Friesen Obituary

Passed away at the Portage Hospital on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at the age of 69 years.

Toby was born at home on the farm in Austin, MB to Abe & Olga Friesen, February 8, 1951. He was the second child of five – one older sister Margaret and three younger brothers Ruben, Phillip and Ron.

Toby went to school in Orangeville until Grade 8 then left to work on the farm for awhile before starting at Carnation.

He was married in 1972 at MacGregor to Evelyn Penner and eventually settled on a dairy farm at Bagot. They had three children, Michael, Shawn and Greg.

After deciding dairy farming was not going to work for them, they moved to MacGregor. He then did long haul trucking for Kleysens and TransX, then worked for JD Barber Sand and Gravel, the rink and finally working at MacGregor Agri Sales.

In 2000, Toby started working with Ron doing the two things he liked best, farming and trucking. In 2003 he was remarried to Ann Dickinson. They moved to a small holding on Image Hill Road South. He continued to work with his brother and also started a small herd of his own with Ann (not Angus).

Toby loved his boys and grandchildren very much. He also loved his Harley and being on the farm with his cows (Limos). Anyone who knows us, knows there were lots of jabs back and forth between Ron and Shirley and Toby and Ann about cow colour. In fact some of Ron’s Black Angus are probably peering through the trees at the funeral as the final jab.

Toby you will be loved and missed by us all.

Toby was predeceased by his father Abe Friesen. He is survived by his wife Ann; sons Michael (Kelly), Shawn (Shanna), and Greg (Jennifer); grandchildren Hannah, Brock, Charles, Walter, Indiana, and Chevelle; mother Olga; and siblings Margaret (Jake), Ruben (Drene), Phil (Nada), and Ron (Shirley).
