It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Valerie Joan Roulette

Born on September 12,1954 in Gladstone Manitoba, Valerie was a cherished daughter, wife, sister, educator, mentor, loving mother, devoted Grandmother to 31 grandchildren and 10 Great grandchildren. Throughout her life, she touched the hearts of many with her warmth, wisdom, and her strength. Valerie had a remarkable way of making everyone feel seen and valued-whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or a joke no matter what the situation was. She had a special bond her grand girls and nieces, always making them laugh, she was known for her deep love of family, her generosity of spirit, and her unwavering compassion for others. Valerie has a special gift of bringing people together and creating a sense of home wherever she went. Her legacy lives on in the lives of those she nurtured, supported, and inspired.

She served for many years as a teacher at Isaac Beaulieu Memorial school, where she later became principal. Her leadership, compassion and commitment to her community left a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues. After her years at Isaac Beaulieu, Valerie continued her education with the Manitoba Education Resource Centre, where she brought her wisdom and experience to a wider network of schools. As a language teacher, she played a vital role in revitalizing and preserving First Nations Languages, passionately advocating for their importance in education and daily life.

Valerie was also a gifted writer and storyteller. She wrote a children’s book, sharing her love for language and culture in a way that will continue to inspire future generations.

Her life was one of service, love, and quiet strength. Valerie will be remembered for her warm heart, her generous spirit, and her unwavering dedication to her community and heritage.

She is survived by her children Maxine( Kelvin), David(Candace), Lana, Bettina(Andre), Evan(Falicia),Harmonie, Aston(Blanche), Step-children Olivia, Oliver, Eloise, Damien. Also leaves to mourn her brothers Ronnie, Cecil, Thomas, sisters Wendy, Laura, Mona.

She was predeceased by her common law husband Oliver Richard, dear siblings Ricky, Arnold, Donna, Mary, and Gordon, as well as by her beloved parents, Harold and Lena Mousseau.

Wake services will be held Sunday June 1st at Sandy Bay First Nation Community Healing Lodge, Funeral will be June 3rd at 2pm. Final Resting place will be at Haven of Rest in Amaranth Mb.
