Walter Richard Obituary

I’d like to begin by thanking everyone for coming to celebrate Walter’s (Bunar) life. Walter was the most caring, easy going, funny and compassionate person I’ve ever known.

            Walter “Bunar” Richard, December 12, 1973 – December 5, 2021

Suddenly on December 5, 2021, Walter passed away at the age of 47, five days before his birthday.

Walter was born on December 12, 1973 in Gladestone, Mb. He was the third child of the late Walter Mousseau and late Marie Doreen Mousseau. Sadly, Walter’s oldest sister (Heather) passed away November 21, 2021. Walter’s parents passed away several years ago. He would often express to his family how much he missed his parents.

Walter leaves to mourn, Bridgette (Bardo), the love of his life. They were together for 32 years and married for 21.  Walter lived in Sandy Bay most of his life, but spent 23 years in Portage where he made many friends in and around the area. He was very protective of his family and Bridgette more than anything. He had such a big heart and would always put his family first. Walter was a big part in his grandchildren’s lives. He and Bridgette raised their grandchildren. There isn’t anything he would not do for his children and grandchildren.

Predeceased by Father: Walter Mousseau, Mother: Marie Doreen Mousseau, Grand Mother: Mabel Richard Sister: Heather Maytwashing Brother: Nathan Catcheway Grandson: Isaiah

Walter was very mischievous growing up. He didn’t always like to obey his parents, for example, when he was grounded (for good reason) and wasn’t allowed to go out visiting, he would always find ways sneak out and go and visit. Growing up in the same neighbourhood, some of us here will remember how we would get together and play outside until dark.

Walter attended Sandy Bay School and enjoyed his time there. Walter worked at Simplot-L.A Quality, Jaymore farms, as a wood cutter in Sandy Bay, as maintenance at West Gate Motel. Gia consulting, was a janitor at Sandy Bay School and security in Long Plain. He had an extensive work history in various places, always making his coworkers laugh with his observations. He enjoyed working on vehicles and electronics as well. He would not hesitate to help anyone in need.

Walter enjoyed listening to music, he always sent and shared music videos with family and friends through messaging and social media. Some people don’t know this, but whenever the opportunity arose for Karaoke, he would jump at the chance to sing. Walter was never shy to show his passion for music and singing. Another favorite pastime was playing bingo and vlt’s. He loved family poker nights and the family always to keep a close eye on him as he liked to cheat at cards. He provided the laughter at these family game nights. He was always welcoming and enjoyed having visitor in his home.

The world is a sadder place without Walter in our lives. But he touched each and every one of us and has left us with memories we will cherish forever.  We know you are with all the loved ones who left before you. We will honour and keep your memory in our hearts. We love you so much and one day we will see you. Until then, keep the laughter going with our family and friends where you are.

Walter, we love and miss you. Until we meet again.

Love Bardo, your children and grandchildren, family and friends.
