Wenda Marie (Gilman) Mutch

            Passed away at the Neepawa Hospital on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the age of 45 years.

            Wenda was born in Winnipeg, MB on May 16th, 1974 to Gordon and Marion Gilman. She was raised on the family farm in McCreary, and later in life returned to McCreary to plant her roots.

            Wenda always had a smile and laugh that could light up a room, which she will forever be remembered for. As a child, she had a love for music which she passed onto her children. Wenda also always had a great adoration of cats, which many people are well aware of. Being involved in anything and everything was a large part of her life. For such a small woman, she sure always had a lot on her plate. From the time she was young, she was full of life and always busy with extracurriculars and clubs like 4H, the Nancy Greene ski school, travel club, lifeguarding at the pool, camping, snowmobiling, her own leatherwork and scrapbooking, piano playing and lessons, socializing with friends and family, and taking photos. Wenda was always behind the camera. Her busy lifestyle soon became busier as she had children and wanted them to be involved in things as well. Wenda helped take charge of many things, such as coaching soccer, Sunday School at the church, Fun Skate, the McCreary Pool, and 4H, to name a few. It is safe to say her children never missed out on anything, and Wenda never missed a second of it. 

Upon graduating from McCreary Collegiate in 1992, Wenda made her move to the big city of Winnipeg to begin her post-secondary education. Attending Red River College until 1994, Wenda graduated with her Registered Nurse certification. She loved her work, the people she worked with and the people she looked after and got to know from near and far. Being such a dedicated Nurse allowed people to see Wenda’s compassionate, caring, and hardworking personality.

            In 1994 while Wenda was still taking her schooling, she met the love of her life, Kirk. In 1998 they married in McCreary and began their lives together. First living in a trailer in Kelwood, they remained there until Kelsey, their first born, was brought to the world in 2000. In 2003 the family of three moved to McCreary. In 2004, Sheldon was born. Not long after, Kirk and Wenda decided to build a new place to call home- their dream home. With the help of friends and family, this dream was made possible. In the fall of 2005, the family of 4 was able to move in. “Mom” made the house a home.

            Wenda was a very selfless person. Everything she did was for the betterment of others. She never put herself first, and was always doing what was best for her family. She was a homemaker, nurse, mother, wife, community advocate, loving daughter, sister and friend. There are many other labels that cannot even begin to describe what a wonderful woman Wenda was. She was brilliant, devoted, and talented. Strong, fearless, and courageous. It is hard to describe someone who embodied so many different things.  

            Wenda is survived by her loving husband of 21 years Kirk; her children Kelsey and Sheldon; father Gordon; siblings Brad and Heather; nieces and nephews Kaila (Jordan), Christopher, Elizabeth, Devin, and Bronson; mother and father in law Don and Gloria; grandmother in law Sadie; sibling in law Gatlin (Rita). She also leaves behind many special cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. Wenda was predeceased by her mother Marion and infant brother Dale.

            Everyone Wenda knew was better for having known her, and she will be sadly missed.
