Welcome to the memorial page for

"Jack" John McCallum Duncan

October 15, 1922 ~ November 12, 2015 (age 93) 93 Years Old
John McCallum Duncan was the first born child to Ken and Edith Duncan.
He was born Oct 15th 1922 in Miniota Mb at his maternal grandparents
home. He spent the remainder of his life in Austin MB. Uncle Jack
spent his early years on the family farm with his 4 younger sisters
and 1 brother. He did farm for a short time and also attended normal
school but his real passion in life was fixing any kind of motor be it
car, truck, motorcycle, or tractor. He was also known to have fixed
more than a few tube TV and radios. Later in  life he fixed many a
lawn mower and garden tillers. If he couldn't get the parts needed he
would make them. Uncle Jack also loved to attend auction sales. He was
always on the lookout for a bargain. Uncle Jack married Patricia
Harvey, a school teacher. They lived a simple life. Uncle Jack wasn't
afraid of work when the town water and sewer came to Austin Uncle Jack
dug the trench from the street to the house by hand using a shovel. My
Mom (Jack's sister) always said Uncle Jack and Aunt Pat should have
lived 100 years before they did as that was the life they were most
comfortable living. No automatic washer or dryer and even though they
had electric heat they preferred the wood cook stove. Uncle Jack lost
the love of his life on Feb. 13 2009. Although Uncle Jack was still
shovelling his lane the winter of 2013 that spring he needed more help
and resided a few months at the Gladstone Health Center before being
admitted to the MacGregor Personal Care Home. He enjoyed numerous
activities there. Painting birdhouses, outings on handivan where he
rode shotgun and his favorite was figuring ways to escape. Sadly Uncle
Jack passed away peacefully on Nov. 12 2015.
