I’m sitting here with uncle Blake, talking about you.. we both miss you so much dad. I wish you could see your granddaughters, Dericka-Raine & Nikita ❤️ Dericka will always carry your name daddy, she’s named after you. Your first grandchild to be born after you left us. She knows you’re in heaven, she shows she’s named after you and my mom. She’s 4, very smart for her age & Nikitas going to be 8 months next week. We all love you dad, uncle Blake is here spending a few days with us.. ttyl I miss you sincerely, Daddy’s girl ❤️ I remember you always played that song for me..

Had a dream of you, oh how did it ever feel so real. Hearing your voice and seeing you again felt so comforting. Missing you so much Donkey, you were like a father figure and was always there when someone needed you.

It's hard to believe Derek has gone to the Spirit World. Our deepest condolences to you Twyla and your boys. Condolences also to his daughters, to his mother Audrey and his father Joe, and his siblings. We will miss him now at pow wows, dancing, and making people laugh wherever we met him. He called us Aunty and Uncle and to that we appreciated his respect. My mom Gladys Malcolm also mentioned how he cleaned up the room after he worked at the Radio station here in Ebb and Flow. He was so respectful not to leave a mess in the room. His presence is going to be really missed, and we would like to say how much we loved him too. May Derek rest in peace!

Twyla and family may you receive strength from all who knew Derek and all the kind words shared. Even after our hockey years stopped Derek always had a huge smile when running into him somewhere else along the way. Such a truly kind friendly guy. So sorry for your loss.

R.I.P. Derek, you'll be missed by staff and students at our school. You sure were one of a kind! You left suddenly, no time for goodbyes, you left us in a state of shock, with questions that'll never be answered. Condolences to your wife and children.
